DOMESTIC ABUSE AWARENESS TRAINING
Church Safeguarding Consultancy launched domestic abuse awareness training in February 2019.
The first training event took place in Nantwich with other events planned. The training was co-presented by Simon Bass, Director of Church Consultancy and Joanne Slamon, Joanne is a survivor of domestic abuse, having lived through the experience of each specific form of abuse (physical, psychological, financial etc). Joanne was forced to relocate with her daughter over 70 miles away from Sheffield where she had lived with her ex-partner. She is now happily married with another child. Joanne has gone on to work in adult mental health services where she works alongside both women and men, helping them to rebuild their lives after relocating from an abusive ex-partner. She is also working with those who are currently trapped in a violent/abusive relationship where she is working alongside other agencies helping the victim to build a safe plan and get out.
